The two-day Gyan Kumbh ended on Sunday afternoon with the participation of over 10,000 people, including 5000 from the colleges based in Haridwar district. A proposal of opening study centres for the Kumaoni and Garhwali languages in every university in Uttarakhand was placed before the congregation. The Uttarakhand Minister of State for Higher Education Dhan Singh Rawat declared that the students from the restive Jammu and Kashmir and the North-eastern region would be trained here in the premier educational institutions to help them shed the anti-national sentiment.

Rawat further declared that Yoga, Vedas and Sanskrit would be made compulsory subjects in all the universities of Uttarakhand.

In an important move, Rawat declared that the students of Jammu and Kashmir would be imparted training at IIT and other institutions of Uttarakhand. “This would certainly help the students from the troubled State to come to the national mainstream and rid themselves of the anti-national sentiment.

They would then refrain from pelting stones and the like,” he said. “Besides, we are proposing to impart professional training to  students from Northeast in Uttarakhand after taking the education Ministers of these States on board,” the Minister said.

He further said that from December 5 2019, ‘special award’ would be given to six teachers from the State for boosting technological innovation.

“Three-day training would be given on Indian Philosophy to the students of several colleges and universities at Patanjali Yog Peeth. This aside,  free research coaching would be provided to 100 specially students by Pro VC of University of Patanjali Acharya Balkrishna,” Rawat said and added that MoUs would be signed with 100 prominent educational institutions of the country for student exchange programme with higher education centres of Uttarakhand.

Acharya Balkrishna said that the Gyan Kumbh has proved a harbinger for quality education not just in Uttarakhand but in the country.
