Guv plants jamun, sharifa saplings in Raj Bhawan

PNS

Uttarakhand Governor KK Paul on Friday planted saplings of jamun (black berry) and sharifa (custard apple) in the Raj Bhawan campus, giving the message on the need for planting trees and preserving the environment on the occasion of World Earth Day.

He said that mother earth looked after the needs of all beings. It was due to the greed and unbalanced exploitation of natural resources done by human beings that there was an increase in  drought, floods and other calamities. The destruction of forests  and wildlife was causing an environmental imbalance. “We must remain sensitive and alert towards the protection of our mother earth”.

We must resolve to save the earth from all kinds of pollution. We must keep it clean, green and beautiful and only then will we find the solutions for all the environmental imbalance and problems emerging from climate change, he said. Only then can we save the earth for posterity.

We must try to plant as many trees as possible, check wastage of water  and  make efforts for rainwater harvesting. And we must cooperate with organisations/institutions coming forward to save the environment.
