Guv in St Mary school to motivate children on reading books

PNS

The Governor of Uttarakhand, Krishan Kant Paul said here on Friday that children should cultivate the habit of reading good books as this would help build their character and personality. Speaking as the chief guest at the annual day of Saint Mary Secondary School, he said that books are one’s best friends and help one succeed in life.

Congratulating the school on its annual day, the Governor said that this was an occasion that was special for both the students and teachers. The school has been helping the poor and orphaned children and thus was rendering great service to society, he opined.

The Governor further stressed on the necessity of value-based education. Teachers have a great influence on students and should realise their responsibility in shaping the character of the students, he added. Paul said that good habits could be easily cultivated in childhood. Awareness about society and environment can be created through children. School children, when given the training about cleanliness, environmental conservation and traffic safety, can make their parents aware of these and become ideal citizens in the future, he emphasised.

The Governor said that children should be taught how to face challenges in a positive manner and adapt themselves to any situation. Children should be taught qualities like humanity, brotherhood, forgiveness and other values that will help them become good human beings.
