PNS

Taking cognizance of the frequent road accidents occurring in Uttarakhand, especially in the hill areas of the State, State Governor Dr KK Paul called Principal Secretary Transport and instructed to take all necessary steps to minimise  road  accidents. Giving directions to be specially careful for the forthcoming Char Dham Yatra, the Governor said that areas which were more dangerous in the context of accidents should be identified on a priority basis and signages must be put up, giving instructions for careful driving. Crash barriers and parapets should be made on the roadsides wherever required. Intensive checking should be done to prevent overloading.

He said strict checks should be placed by the department  on drunken driving, fitness of vehicles, proper training of drivers, fixing their hours of duty according to norms  and ensuring their physical fitness. Principal secretary (transport) had a meeting with the Governor at Raj Bhavan today in this context. The principal secretary informed the Governor about the various necessary steps being taken by the department.
