Guilty to be punished: Cong

Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay has said the sting operation purportedly showing corruption in the State Government’s dealings, appears to be aimed at diverting public attention away from the questions being raised at the BJP.

However, he stressed the law should take its course in case anyone in the Government machinery was found guilty of indulging in corruption.

Taking to The Pioneer, the PCC chief said he had not yet watched the video footage in question and would respond in detail to the allegations after watching it.

He added, “So far, the BJP has already made four attempts to oust the present Congress-led State Government in Uttarakhand. The recent allegations of scam in disaster relief based on information procured under Right To Information also appear to be politically motivated. The sting operation appears to be like an attempt to divert public focus away from the alleged corruption in BJP governed Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and at the Centre.”

“However, I also stress that our party is not in favour of protecting the corrupt or preventing corruption from being exposed. In case anyone is found guilty of corruption, the law should take its course,” added Upadhyay.
