Following assurance from State administration, the association of the guest teachers of Uttarakhand has suspended its agitation proposed from Saturday. A delegation of the association was invited for talks by the Secretary In charge Chandrashekhar Bhatt at state secretariat on Friday.
The President of the association, lalit Dangwal told The Pioneer that the officer assured the delegation that the demands of the association would be looked into. He claimed that the officer also gave an assurance that change would be made into the Government Order (GO) concerning the appointment of teachers on contract, it the need arises. He said that the association would be forced to launch a State wide stir if its demands are not accepted. The association of guest teachers is opposed to the proposal of 3- 5 percent additional wieghtage in the selection process of contractual teachers mentioned in the GO.
The association claims that the BJP in uts election manifesto, had assured that it will go for inclusion of guest teachers in the education department if it is elected to power .
