PNS

The Prathmik Shikshak Sangh (PSS), the association of Primary teachers of State would observe a protest meeting at parade ground on the occasion of Teachers’ day. The protest is part of all country wise protest by the All India Primary Teachers Association. The members of the association would assemble at the protest site near parade ground on the day and sit on a Dharna. The district President of the PSS, Virendra Singh Krishali said that the teachers would sit on a Dharna from 11 AM to 2 PM at the protest site. He informed that a memorandum to the President of India, Prime Minister, Governor and Chief Minister of Uttarakhand would be handed over the district magistrate of Dehradun.

The primary teachers of the country are agitating on a three point agenda. The teachers want immediate withdrawal of the new pension scheme and implementation of old one. They want that the discrepancies of the VI pay commission should be removed and VII pay commission recommendations should be implemented across the board for all teachers of the country. The association also wants constitution of a National Commission for Primary Education for redressing various issues of the primary teachers.

The order of the PSS to the teachers to hold protest on the teachers’ day has put many of them in quandary as the education department has cancelled the holiday on the day and asked the teachers to organise programmes in their respective schools.  “We are in a dilemma as to follow the order of department or association.  In the list of holidays September 05 is mentioned as holiday it is now cancelled,’’ said a teacher posted in Raipur block of Dehradun.
