The day the Budget Session of the State Assembly commenced with the people expecting a lot from the Budget 2015-16, the State BJP trained its gun on the State Government, saying that it had spent just about 30 per cent of the budget for 2014-2015. The Government was boasting of ushering in an era development across the State. But the reality was that it was rolling out falsehood as it had been able to utilise just about 30 per cent of the plan budget so far the last financial year, alleged Suresh Joshi, State BJP spokesperson, on Wednesday. We would see how the State Government would spend next year's budget fund, tagged with the whopping last financial year's backlog, he said.
The fact is that the Harish Rawat Government is presently focused on shielding the mining and liquor mafia, being least concerned over the aspirations of the people of the hill state. Asked how State BJP can level such a charge when the Government had sought people's suggestions before finalising the fine-print of the new excise policy, Joshi said that this was just eyewash.
leave aside development, the Government had failed to ensure basic services in a proper manner to the people, he said. Things are dismal on basic service fronts like education, health and law and order, particularly in rural and remote areas. The BJP leader said the Government was concealing facts of the Centre's generous assistance to the State. Uttarakhand received a huge amount of over Rs4,000 crore as Central assistance for disaster management purpose in 2013-2014.
The Government harping on transparency, we demand the government to come out with the figures showing how this fund has been used. Similarly, the Government kept receiving huge amount under the NRHM. But it has spent over 70 per cent of this fund on purchasing medical equipments and machines, he alleged.
