Govt should register cows: Swedia

PNS

Instead of superfluous passing of a resolution in the State Assembly demanding a status of ‘Rasthra Mata’ for cow, the State Government should undertake a drive for registration of the same, said the founder of Veer Savarkar Yuva Sangathan Kuldeep Swedia. He, further, warned that the activists of the organisation would pick up the stray bovines wandering around the streets of Dehradun and leave them in the courtyard of the residence of the Minister of State for Animal Husbandry Rekha Arya.

Addressing the media persons,  Swedia said that through  registration many problems like smuggling, slaughter, accidents  due to the strays and even communal flare-ups would be solved.“On September 24, a delegation of the Veer Savarkar Yuva Sangathan met the Animal Husbandry Minister and demanded the Government to act on the sensitive issue within ten days. The ten-day deadline is ending on October 4. Thereafter, we would have no choice but to take the stray cows to the residence of the Minister and leave them there,’’ he said.

He, further, said that the dairy operators are responsible for the stray problem. “They let the male calves and old cows loose on the roads. The Government should maintain a register of the dairies and it should inform the people about those authorised to trade bovine breeds. The permission should be issued by the police stations for transportation of cows,” he said.

Demanding legal action on the sale of oxytocin injections, Swedia said that despite the ban, these milk inducing injections are freely available in the market.
