PNS

Reacting to lokayukta Bill passed in the Vidhan Sabha, the leader of Opposition in the Vidhan Sabha Ajay Bhatt lamented that the Bill, which was passed during the BJP regime, was more effective Bill for curbing corruption cases in the Government departments.

He lamented that the Congress-led State Government was very casual towards curbing the corruption cases in the State. Bhatt also expressed his concern over the issue that despite the fact the lokayukta Bill, which was passed during the BJP regime received the President's approval, the Congress-led State Government did not bother to table the Bill in the last session held in the month of September, last year.

Ironically, the Bill was tabled in the recent proceedings of Vidhan Sabha and the government also announced to amend it. Bhatt termed the Congress's lokayukta Bill as toothless and further lamented that the recently passed Bill would not be strong enough to curtail the corruption cases in the Government departments.

He also expressed his concern over the issue that the State Government has completely failed to keep a tab on the corruption cases in the State. Bhatt also expressed his concern over the Governor's customary address and further lamented that the Congress-led State Government has also failed to take effective steps for redressing the grievances of the those villagers, who faced the brunt of the natural calamities.

According to him, the bodies of locals and tourists are even lying unattended near the Kedarnath shrine despite the fact that the more than six months have passed since the natural calamities struck Uttarakhand in the month of June, last year.

According to him, the State Government is yet to take effective steps for enhancing basic facilities in the disaster-hit areas of the State. He also pointed out the deteriorating condition of law and order in the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of Uttarakhand and further said that the Congress-led State Government's callous attitude could be gauged by the fact the condition of roads, potable water, medical and health facilities, schools is still the same despite the fact that funds were sanctioned by the Union Government for repairing basic amenities in the disaster affected areas of Uttarakhand.
