lending his weight once again to the growing demand for making Gairsain the capital of Uttrakhand, Speaker of the State Assembly and senior Congress leader Govind Singh Kunjwal, said the people of the State should come forward to demand the same persistently. "Unless the people come forward to promote the languages as well as the culture of the State Uttarakhand would not progress much," he said while releasing a documentary Uttrakhand Darshan Part- I directed by Rakesh Uniyal in the city Hall in Dehradun on Monday. He also said the  State Government should help production of more such documentaries to project the unique culture the State is a repository of and the peerless natural bounty which abounds in the State. The 23-minute documentary is a musical rendering of the culture and nature of Uttarakhand that is endowed with many celebrated centres of pilgrimages situated in serene natural surroundings. Rekha Dhasmana Uniyal and Virendra Negi are the  principal musical contributors  of the documentary.

Rakesh Uniyal, the director, said the documentary embodies the dream his late father Dharmanand Uniyal dreamt. "The documentary is meant to make the people aware of the lingual diversity and richness of the State and through doing so, to boost its tourism potential," he said.

Dehradun mayor Vinod Chamoli who was also present at the release ceremony said that agriculture being the mainstay of the State's economy needs a lot  of boost. "Irrigation should reach out to every nook and corner of rural Uttarakhand. A revamped agriculture can new-make the State and employ more and more unemployed youths," he said.
