The administration of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital has asked the health department vacate its space used by the department for making the disability certificates.
The Medical Superintendent (MS) of the hospital, Dr K K Tamta has written a letter to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Dehradun Dr Y S Thapliyal requesting him to find an alternative place for disability certificate distribution as the space is now needed for the II year Medical students.
Talking to The Pioneer, Dr Tamta said that the district health department requested to lend some space in the hospital last year as the CMO office does not have a ramp for the disabled.
He said that the arrangement was meant to be a temporary arrangement.
It is pertinent to mention here that the disability certificates are made once a week by the district health department. Earlier they were made in the CMO office.
Here the disabled persons faced problems due to absence of ramp when the issue was raised in the newspapers the officials shifted the centre in the hospital of GDMC. Now the hospital wants its space back as the room where the disability certificates are made is demonstration room for the medical students.
