Garhwal Commissioner CS Napalchayal has not yet sent his recommendation to the Uttarakhand Government on the inquiry report based on the alleged financial irregularities and misuse of Municipal Board fund by the president Pauri Municipal Board Yashpal Benam despite four months having passed since the report was submitted.

The report was submitted to Garhwal commissioner on 6 February by the district magistrate Chandra Sekhar Bhatt. The commissioner had appointed the committee to probe the graft charges after seven out of the eleven municipal board members and some citizens of Pauri town had served a memorandum to him. He had even asked the DM who was heading the probe committee to submit the report in one week.

Explaining things, Napalchayal said that the additional commissioner had been asked to clear a few points that the report contained. “We want to make sure that the provisions of municipal act had been expressly violated. The report would be sent to state government soon after the points are cleared,” he added.

Mention worthy, with 25 days having passed since the  commissioner had formed the committee,   some representative of the town met the commissioner to apprise him of no headway being made in the graft -related inquiry  The absence of the executive officer, Pauri municipal council is said to have caused  the  delay as the files could not be put before the inquiry officer. As soon the files reached, DM completed the report and submitted it  to Garhwal commissioner, sources said.
