Taking note of the recent incidents involving the Roorkee sub-jail and Dehradun jail, the jail officers have been directed to frisk jail officials when they enter the jail campus, said IG (Jail) PVK Prasad while talking to ‘The Pioneer’ on Wednesday. He said, “I do not have any problem if I am also being frisked by the security guard during my entry to the campus.” Moreover, Prasad said that the jail officials have been directed to ensure that physical distance should be maintained between hard- core criminals and visitors when they are allowed to meet in the jail campus. Police should also be kept extra vigilance during meeting.
Prasad recently inspected Roorkee sub-jail and Suddhowala jail and reviewed the security arrangement there. According to him, it was observed that no physical distance was maintained when inmates (hard- core criminals) are allowed to meet the visitors in the jail campus.
