In yet another pre-election sop, the Harish Rawat Government has decided to give the benefit of free air travel to physically impaired, ill, senior citizens and children for a period of one month. The District Magistrates have been empowered to give permission for the free air travel. The Secretary Civil Aviation, Dr Meenakshi Sundaram said that the step has been taken to promote the nascent air services of the State and create public awareness. The air services are provided two days a week from Jolly Grant air port in Dehradun to Gauchar in Chamoli on Tuesday and Friday, Jolly Grant to Chinyalisaur in Uttarkashi on Wednesday and Saturday and from Jolly Grant to Naini Saini in Pithoragarh on Monday and Thursday.
