Four persons from Delhi reportedly died on the spot when the vehicle they were travelling in fell off the road about 400 metres down while being driven from Nainital to Bhowali on Tuesday midnight. The car with license plate number Dl 10 CH 7032 is believed to have met with the mishap due to speeding. The Tallital police arriving the scene of the mishap at about 8 AM after being informed by the locals. While the car was a total wreck, the personnel had to work hard to extricate the bodies of the four youth who had died on the spot. The bodies were sent by the police for post mortem examination while the families of the youth killed were also said to have been informed about the situation and expected to arrive in Nainital by late Wednesday evening. According to information provided by sources, four youth from Delhi were travelling in their Ford Eco Sport from Nainital towards Bhowali at about 12 AM on Wednesday.
At a site located about four kilometres from Nainital town the driver is believed reportedly lost control of the vehicle at a turning near the hydel colony due to which the car fell off the road down the steep mountain-side about 400 metres below.
Hearing the bang caused by the vehicular mishap, the locals in the area came out of their homes and soon informed the Tallital police, after which SO Pramod Pathak reached the scene of the mishap with force. However, in absence of rope to climb down the steep mountain side, the police took the assistance of the state disaster response force and fire brigade to conduct the operation from another site to retrieve the bodies. According to the papers found with the bodies, the four youth have been identified by the authorities as Rajivnagar, Delhi resident Rahul Kumar, Natthupura Buradi resident Anshu Kumar, Nitin Sharma and Chinku Chowdhary.
The police ASP Harish Sati informed that the cause of the mishap is believed to be speeding. The families of the four youth killed in the mishap have been informed about it.
