PNS

With the uprooting of more than 3,000 trees in the Terai-central forest division in storms that badly hit different parts of the region on April 30 and May 13, forest officials now expressed concerns as to how to ensure speedy disposal of the forest produce as it might increase theft cases.

It’s a time taking exercise to dispose off more than three thousand trees which were uprooted by stormy waves across the region, officials of the Terai-Central forest division said.

An official of the forest department said their main concern was how to save these uprooted trees from being stolen. Therefore, efforts were on to ensure speedy disposal of the same and an alert has been sounded, he maintained.

The fact of the matter is that dumps of uprooted trees continued to lie in different parts of the said forest division including on both sides of the Haldwani-Rampur national highway that also passes through the said forest division and the same can become easy target for wood smugglers.

Meanwhile, Terai-Central forest division has asked officials concerned to ensure speedy disposal of the uprooted trees.
