Food Supply Min upset with slow pace of work

PNS

Uttarakhand Food and Civil Supply Minister Pritam Singh expressed dissatisfaction over slow pace of work on digitisation of ration cards under National Food Security Scheme by the department officers.

He directed officials to complete the work by June 2015 so that this scheme can be implemented from July 2015. Singh reviewed NFS Scheme with the food and civil supply officers and directed them to ensure that works on digitisation of ration cards are completed without delay.

On the occasion the State principal secretary food and civil supply Radha Raturi informed that this scheme had been started in the past. But due to lack of allocation of food grains by the Central Government, the same has been provided to the ration card holders under earlier scheme named Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) Scheme from September 2014 in the State to keep things going on.

Around 11.25 lakh primary families have been selected under this scheme so far and beneficiaries have been given new ration card. Around 1.90 lakh Antyodaya families have been selected under NFS Scheme. Around 56.4 per cent of works related to digitisation of new ration cards have been completed in districts.

Moreover, the minister also expressed displeasure when he was informed that around 11 per cent of the total received forms have been verified by the department officers. Singh directed the officers to ensure that digitisation of new ration cards and verification of received forms is completed by June at any cost so that this scheme can be implemented by July 2015.

The minister directed the officers to draft line of action up to the village level.  While principal secretary Raturi was directed to digitize works of new ration cards while being stressed that the matter is right in the Chief Minister’s agenda. All the district magistrates should complete the work on priority basis.

Those application forms, rejected by the Central Government should be filled up again by the department officers concerned after conducting verification of such forms. The DSOs were directed to issue ration cards for those who have not received them so far. The applications who have received new ration cards should be properly verified.
