In a major relief to the people of the state reeling under the strike of the field workers of 108 emergency ambulance service, the agitating workers resumed their duties on Friday.
The state head of the GVK- EMRI 108 emergency ambulance service, Manish Tinku said that all the employees who were on strike have resumed work.
He further expressed satisfaction over the employees having understood the problem faced by the common people and decided to call back their strike. On his part, he assured that all the major issues of the workers would be discussed and looked sympathetically.
The secretary of the association of the 108 ambulance workers Vipin Jamloki said that a delegation of workers had met the state BJP chief Ajay Bhatt at his residence on Friday and during the meeting he had assured that their demands would be looked into. He further said that all the workers have returned to work from Friday evening.
In support of their demands, the field staff of the 108 emergency service was on strike since Tuesday. The strike by the workers had adversely affected the state health services. Acting tough on the strike, the GVK EMRI administration had ordered the striking workers to return to their duties before 8 pm on Friday failing which the agitating workers were threatened termination. The company had also started a recruitment drive to fill the vacancies if the need arose.
The workers are annoyed over the decision to cut salary in connection with the mass leave they had undertaken in August last. Besides, they are demanding timely payment of salaries and allowances aside from their basic salary being fixed as per the labour laws. They also want the ambulance workers not be unnecessarily transferred and a committee be constituted to look into their problems.
