Khanpur MlA and State Mining Deveopment Committee chairman Kunwar Pranav Singh ‘Champion’, who is known for his uncanny skill of hogging the limelight for all the wrong reasons, has once again come under media focus, this time while dancing to music wearing a vest with a gun in each hand in Roorkee.
It is being alleged that he was dancing on the floor of IIT Thomso (IIT Rorkee fest) but it is not clear when and where the dance took place. The Pioneer tried to contact this MlA over phone, for his views on the matter but he was stated to be attending a meeting at that moment.
Earlier, he had allegedly fired a bullet at a function hosted by then Cabinet Minister Harak Singh Rawat with Congress leader Vivekanand Khanduri sustaining two bullet injuries. Being a ruling party MlA, the State Government managed to save him with the police yet to investigate the case because though a case was lodged, the purported victim refused to divulge the name of the shooter, saving the MlA from legal hassles.
Earlier he had allegedly threatened a private company after the company had retrenched its staff. The staff had approached the MlA to fight for their cause preventing the company from firing them at will and for facilitating reinstatement of those already fired. Champion plunged headlong in championing their cause. Now the question is- would such rhetoric and action advance the cause of the State, desperately seeking investment from the entrepreneurs for economic resuscitation or make the State keep vegetating in the stultifying bogs of stagnationIJ
Though the time and location of the ‘armed’ dance is yet to be ascertained, the short clip clearly establishes the identity of the MlA —who enjoys the status of Cabinet Minister- dancing with gun in each hand on the dance floor to old tunes.
The clip also shows another man who seems to be under the influence of liquor, dancing in a vest with a gun in his hand.
It would be pertinent to mention here that Champion, who keeps doing something or the other to grab the limelight, had to lose the chairmanship of Uttarakhand forest development corporation because he had made serious allegation against the then Cabinet Minister of Progressive Democratic Front (PDF) — an alliance of non-Congress and non-BJP MlAs—who had then threatened to break the alliance with the State Government.
