First Thana Diwas held at police stations to resolve public grievances

PNS

First Thana Divas held at each police station of the district to address grievances of the public exposed dilly dallying approach of officials of departments related to development, revenue, and power who didn’t spare out time to attend the event despite State Government’s order that makes their presence mandatory in the event. From the instance, one may gauge how serious are the officials to solve the problems of people!

Two officials from revenue department attended the thana divas at Chakrata and Claimant Town police station. Officials from other departments, who were asked to attend the divas, didn’t spare out time. The approach of the officials disappointed the complainants and police personnel alike since some of the complaints had solutions with these departments. During next week police would inform the officials of other departments, asking them to attend the divas so that the complaints could be solved then and there. Senior Superintendent of police (SSP) Kewal Khurana said, “On our part we are trying to address the complaints of people then and there on Thana Diwas. The complaints, which could not be addressed, will be solved within a week. Next week, the officials would be asked to remain present in the divas.”

Police received around 100 complaints on the thana divas. Maximum complaints were received at Sahaspur police station where cops on duty addressed all the complaints. Clement Town police stood second in receiving the complaints where a total 13 complainants arrived with problems. Of these, seven complaints were solved then and there. Mussoorie received 12 complaints of which 11 were solved.  Raiwala addressed all four complaints received at Thana divas.
