In the case of a newly married woman suspected to have been lifted by a leopard from a village in Pauri on Monday night, the father and father in-law of the woman have lodged FIRs with the revenue police. It is being suspected that the she was enticed into leaving the village by someone. The dead body of the 21-year-old woman has not yet been recovered by Forest Department and Revenue police.
Sub divisional Magistrate Pl Shah told The Pioneer that two separate reports were lodged by the married woman’s father and her father in-law with revenue police on Wednesday, in which it was mentioned that the body of Rashmi had not been recovered so far and they suspect that some one had enticed her to leave the village with him. Shah said that a taxi driver of Kaivers village admitted that he had transported one woman and one person in his taxi, but their faces were fully covered in clothing so he could not recognise them.
The taxi was booked on Monday late evening and the driver was told to take the passengers to Satpuli on Tuesday early morning at 4 am. It is pertinent to mention that Rashmi was first suspected of having been taken by a leopard. She got married about a month ago and was visiting her paternal village when she went missing. Her torn clothes and some blood drops werediscovered some distance from the house which made people suspect a leopard.
