In order to raise awareness about fire safety norms and about the ways to save oneself if fire breaks out at crowded places, the fire service employees led by Dehradun fire service officer Shiv Prasad Mamgai conducted demonstration programmes at Bisht village and Bharatwala village apart from an apartment at Purukul in Dehradun on Sunday.
Mamgai dwelt on the main causes leading to fire accidents at the multi- storied buildings, attributing them to short circuit and negligence during cooking. He also dwelt in details on fire safety management while instructing the security guards about what they should do as the first responders to the incidents of fire.
Mamgai also checked the equipments and other fire safety measures put in place at the apartment.
Demonstration was held on different kinds of rescue methods resorted to during the fire accidents and earthquakes. Mamgai asked the people concerned to adopt the fire safety norms to stave off blazes that often break out in places like offices, hotels, shopping centers, hospitals and schools. “Once you come across a fire breaking out somewhere you must report to Fire Control Room or call Toll Free line 101 and 100,” he said.
The fire officer further said, “We explained different kinds of fires – carbonaceous, oil, electrical and gas fires- and how to put them out while using ordinarily available things and then using equipment of the fire department.”
