Dehradun fire service department claims to have taken foolproof measures to ensure a mishap-free Deepawali this year. “We are on alert. The fire tenders are kept on alert mode too. They would be stationed at many important places in the city,” said Shiv Prasad Mamgai, fire station officer, Dehradun on Thursday.
Two fire mishaps having occurred over the past few days, they were doubly alert to stop their recurrence in any part of the city, he said, adding that they would plunge themselves once they were informed of any such happening anywhere.
He further said one can inform the fire service department on telephone numbers- 101-100 and 2716242.
“The officers would plunge into action once the complaints are received to douse the fire while ensuring minimum casualties in terms of human life and property. Besides, the department has issued an advisory to the people, cautioning them ahead of the Deepawali festival. We have stressed that a little bit of care and precaution can prevent fire accidents,” he said.
Mamgai further said that most of the traders who had applied for no- objection- certificates (NOC) from the Dehradun fire service department for selling firecrackers during the Deepawali festival were given the same after fire officials conducted inspection of the site.
