Shifting firecrackers market to the MB Inter College ground on the Nainital Road in Haldwani from the Ramlila Ground in view of the fire safety concerns, the district administration, Nainital, has stressed on the need to put in place necessary fire safety measures to deal with any eventuality.
Sale of firecrackers near the busy market places is a risky business as per the fire safety norms, said R D Paliwal, City Magistrate, Haldwani.
That is why the firecracker shops are being shifted to the M B Inter College ground on the Nainital Raod which is safe from fire safety point of view, added Paliwal. It may be recalled that till last year firecrackers were sold at the Ramlila Ground which is in the midst of a populated area in Haldwani.
However, despite awareness being created among masses including school children about disadvantages of bursting firecrackers, enthusiasm is huge among the people to buy firecrackers .
Though in a bid to avoid any fire like incident, firecrackers are sold only at a fixed place, cases of illegal storage of firecrackers have also come to light even in city like Haldwani during checking by the police concerned.
However, the district administration Nainital, has also asked the officials concerned to ensure sale of firecrackers only at a fixed place.
Emphasising on the need to follow the necessary fire safety norms, the district administration, Nainital, has directed the officials concerned to take necessary action against those shopkeepers who are found selling firecrackers in other than the identified areas.
More so, it has also asked the officials concerned to conduct raids at the market places to check sale of adulterated edible items.
At the same time, the district administration, Nainital, has also asked the food inspectors to maintain vigil on important district border points so that adulterate food items being supplied form other districts could be prevented from entering this district.
Meanwhile, the Nainital district administration has also appealed to the people to be careful while purchasing the edible items from markets. The consumers are supposed to see date of packing while purchasing the edible items and in case of any doubt they need to inform the police concerned and respective SDM office so that necessary steps could be taken to prevent sale of adulterated edible products, maintained the district administration Nainital.
Meanwhile, officials concerned have also started conducting raids in different shops associated with selling food products or firecrackers across the district.
