ASRP Mukesh, a scribe working with an English Daily, registered an FIR at lalpur Police Station against doctors and nurses at the Orchid Hospital alleging medical negligence in the case of death of his newborn child here on Thursday.  The child was born on 3:25 PM on Wednesday and was absolutely normal till 9 AM on Thursday, according to the report and at 10: 15 AM it was declared dead by the hospital.“The child was born healthy and was absolutely normal till 9 AM in the morning when the duty doctor checked it up. Around 9:15 when they tried to wake it up for feeding, it was responding very slowly. The doctors and nurses were informed immediately and a nurse took the baby for checkup,” said a kin of the scribe.

The FIR states that at 10:15 AM the parents were informed that the baby was no more. “During the period doctors kept on saying that the baby was fine and they were looking after it. Even after two hours of the death of the child we were not allowed to enter the neo natal care unit despite repeated requests. After enormous pressure when they showed the body there were numerous spots on it. The whole body was filled with rashes, lips were blackish, nose had marks and some liquid was coming out of it,” Mukesh wrote in the FIR.

The scribe further stated that the hospital authorities were giving various reasons of the death of the baby. “With this, I have serious doubts that it was due to sheer negligence of doctors and nurses my daughter lost my life,” stated Mukesh in the FIR.

The police meanwhile arranged postmortem of the body in the presence of a magistrate. “After we get the postmortem report supervision will be done in the case to decide whether it was a case of medical negligence and if it is so then who is responsible for the same,” said lalpur PS in-charge Pramod Kumar.
