In view of the summer season ahead, the State Finance Minister and MlA from Haldwani Assembly constituency, Indira Hridayesh, has asked the officials concerned to take necessary steps in advance to smoothen the drinking water supply, claiming to have released  an amount of Rs1.86 crore under the National Rural Drinking Water programme  to install stabilizers in the tube- wells set up in Haldwani and its adjacent areas for protecting them from the high voltage of power and ensuring better drinking supply for the people.

Keeping in view the voltage problem that causes difficulty in the functioning of the tube-wells an amount of Rs1.86 crore has been released by the State Government to protect the tube wells in Haldwani from such voltage problem, added Hridayesh.

Therefore, the officials concerned of the jal sansthan are supposed to ensure proper use of the said amount so that better drinking water supply could be ensured to the citizens during the summer season ahead,  she further said.

Note worthy, Haldwani city has plenty of drinking water in its disposal. But, on account of poor drinking water distribution network, to have a smooth drinking water supply  has always been a cause of concern for the citizens here.

According to the official concerned of the jal sansthan, Haldwani, while availability of the drinking water in Haldwani  remains about 35 million litre per day (MlD), the demand for the same is only around 28 (MlD) even during the peak hours in Haldwani.

Besides, the jal sansthan has also installed tube wells in many parts of urban as well as rural parts of Haldwani and neighbouring areas, yet the drinking water crisis continues to remain a cause of concern  for long for the people here mainly because of more than five decade old drinking water distribution system.
