The State Government has directed the education department to fill a large number of vacant posts of principals in the schools on ad hoc basis.
In a letter directed to Secondary EducationDirector, the Additional Chief Secretary, S Raju has asked to constitute a committee headed by the director to appoint Principals in the vacant posts in the Government Inter College (GIC), Government Girls Inter Colleges (GGIC) and High schools purely on ad hoc basis.
More than 350 posts of Principals are lying vacant in the Government schools of the State.
Raju said that the vacant posts of Principals in GGIC and GIC should be filled by the Principals of the High Schools.
These promotions however would be purely on ad hoc basis and the appointed persons would continue to draw the salary they are presently entitled.
As migration of Principals from High schools to GICs would create vacancy, senior lecturers would be appointed as Principals of High Schools.
The appointment would be on the basis of seniority and after proper counseling session before the committee.
The Additional Director (AD), DG Office and Ads of Garhwal, Kumaon and education directorate would be the members of this committee.
