Prominent ophthalmologists have stated that with the latest technology, the procedure has become safer, and more comfortable for patients. Femtosecond lasers allow for performance of blade-free surgeries with unmatched precision and accuracy. This was said at a programme on recent advances in cataract surgery organised in Dehradun on Sunday by Amritsar Eye Clinic under the aegis of Dehradun Ophthalmological Society.
Noted ophthalmologist and Professor of Ophthalmology at AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr JS Titiyal gave a talk on cataract surgery in the presence of co-existing corneal disease. The surgical procedure becomes more challenging in such conditions. He shed light on how it can be performed safely for patients, reducing complications, and enhancing visual outcomes.
Dr Titiyal said 50 per cent cases of blindness are due to cataract and that this is the situation despite the fact that maximum number of cataract surgeries is being performed in our country. Dr VC Mehta from Mumbai talked about on how to improve approaches towards cataract surgery.
