Female voters in veil would be under the strict vigil of the State Election Commission during polling in the upcoming civic elections across the State so that any ineligible voter could not vote under the garb of veil.

According to the directions of State Election Commission, one female official will also be deployed in each polling booth. These female poll officials will keep an eye on all  the voters who will come to exercise their franchise in veil at their respective  polling booths, said Dheeraj Singh Garbyal, the Officer in charge of the model code of conduct/CDO, Udham Singh Nagar.

This time deployment of the female poll officials has been made compulsory in each polling booth only to ensure that no ineligible person could vote in these civic polls, he added.

To facilitate the polling process smoothly as many as 338 polling booths have been set up across the district. Keeping in view the number of polling booths as many as 400 female officials have been deployed on election duties and some woman officials have also been put under the reserve category, further informed Garbyal.

All these female poll officials have been given necessary training of the election process that they have to perform at the polling booths, said the officials concerned of the Udham Singh Nagar district administration.
