A teenager allegedly raped by her father repeatedly for a year underwent medical examination on Monday. Earlier, on Saturday, a case was filed in the Patelnagar police station regarding this.
The accused father was arrested by the police and sent to jail.
The victim and her younger sister have been rescued by Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and were sent to Balika Niketan. The result of the victim’s medical report is still to come.
Dehradun Superintendent of Police (city) Shweta Choubey said, “We have registered the case under the sections of POCSO Act. The accused father was arrested and has been sent to jail by the court. The investigation is ongoing.”
Member of the CWC, Sudhir Bhatt said, “We got the information from Tehri district probation officer and we immediately sent a letter to the police.
The victim is 16 years old and has given statements to Childline as well as CWC accusing her father of raping her repeatedly for about a year.
She and her nine-year old younger sister are at Balika Niketan and are being given counselling. Their mother died about five years ago,” said Bhatt.
