Heads have started rolling in the Dehradun police as the law-Enforcing Department has found itself in deep trouble with crimes continuing unabated in the capital city of the State.
Visibly embarrassed with the police drawing flaks from all sections of the society for their failure to rise to the occasion, Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Rautela has transferred circle officers, police station in-charge and sub-inspectors on Friday.
In the re-jig exercise, Raipur police in-charge Mukesh Tyagi seemed to have been made the sacrificial lamb as he was reverted to police line.
This is in view of police having failed to crack the armed burglary case that resulted in the murder of a
23-year-old person and injury of four persons from the same family in Balawala area on September 10.
In addition, Dalanwala circle officer Rameshwar Dimri was transferred to Mussoorie. Sub inspector Abul Kalam was made Raipur police station in-charge.
Since Ajay Rautela assumed charge as SSP of Dehradun, there had hardly been any administrative changes. Finally, he sat up as his department became a butt of collective ridicule in view of their perceived failure to effectively clamp down on the criminals who are supposed to be prowling on the common people with impunity across the city and its outskirts.
There was no other option but to go for the re-shuffle to refurbish the fast dwindling credibility of the law- enforcing force, said many.
Whether this would prove effective in curbing crimes or a mere cosmetic exercise time would tell, said a resident of the locality where the daring burglary occurred a few days back that sent the city into a panic-mode.

Sub-inspector Mahipal Singh Rawat was made SSP PRO. Senior sub-inspector Ravi Saini was made Special Operation Group (SOG) in-charge. Sub-inspector Kamal Kumar lunthi was sent to Dalanwala Kotwali from police line. Sub-inspector Raffat Ali was sent to Patelnagar from Police line. Sub-inspector Neelamber Dutt was sent to Doiwala from GRP Police station. Sub-inspector Pradeep Rana was deployed at Kotwali from police office. Sub inspector Maan Singh was sent to Nehru Colony from police line. Sub-inspector Hari Singh was sent to GRP police station from police line.
