With the increasing number of cyber crimes being reported in police stations, the Uttarakhand State Police Department organised a day-long State-level training programme on 'Cyber Security and Cyber Forensic' for police officers and police personnel at the police headquarters on Thursday.
A team of experts led by executive director Dr BK Murthy and associate director VK Sharma from the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Ministry of Communications and IT, Government of India, talked about various types of cyber crimes being reported to the police.
They highlighted various methods of cracking cyber crimes, website hacking, credit card forgery, internet banking frauds, Facebook defacement, objectionable and controversial comments on social networking sites on the occasion. The experts also talked about how to use modern technology and techniques to crack cases related to cyber crimes. They viewed that in view of increasing cases of cyber crimes at various police stations of the districts, the authorities should deal with such cases strictly apart from making strict law to check them.
Others present on the occasion were State Additional Director-General of Police (law and order) Anil Kumar Raturi, IG (jail) PVK Prasad, SSP Dr Sadanand Date, ASP Mukesh Kumar, inspectors and sub-inspectors from various districts of the State, it is learnt.
