PNS

In connection with the death of 27-year-old ex-journalist Kiran Sharma who was reported to have committed suicide by hanging herself in her in- law’s house on September 25 night, the deceased brother Ramswaroop Sharma demanded CBI enquiry into the case. He alleged that in-laws had murdered her for dowry.

While interacting with the media persons, Himachal Pradesh native Sharma alleged that one of the senior police officers being a relative of the in-laws of his deceased sister, a fair and independent inquiry of the case is not possible. He demanded the case to be handed over to the CBI.

He alleged that police working under pressure have failed to arrest any of the accused since the case was registered. According to Sharma, on September 25, Kiran had talked to her parents and other family members. “She was tense as her in-laws had threatened her. Her in-laws did not inform us about her death,” he said.

Nehru Colony police officer had earlier said that deceased’s brother Ram Swaroop Sharma had registered a complaint and a case under sections 498a, 504/304 (b) of IPC and ¾ dowry act was registered against the deceased’s in-laws. “The forensic report is awaited. Teams have been formed and they are working hard to arrest the accused,” Police officer said on Tuesday.
