Ensure time bound probe into sting operation: Cong State president Kishore

PNS
The sting operation screened by the BJP in Delhi showing alleged corruption in Uttarakhand Government’s functioning appears to be a well planned move to depict all political parties as equally corrupt, said Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay on Thursday. He said he had asked the CM Harish Rawat to ensure a time bound probe into the sting operation and advised those filmed having the conversation in question to seek legal advice for taking action against those behind the operation.
Upadhyay said, “I saw the sting operation on YouTube last night but nothing is clear in the video, even the faces of the persons shown are not clear. Who is involved in the deals being discussed, when and where was the conversation filmed are also aspects that need to be ascertained. The PCC will not shield any wrongdoer but only the Taliban and Islamic State follow a system of punishing the accused without a proper trial. I talked to the CM yesterday and told him that the people of the State have faith in him and that it is his duty to retain it. I have requested that there be a time bound probe into this case.”
He further alleged Central Government role in the sting operation considering that union minister and BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman presented it to the media. Attacking the BJP he said, “Had the BJP ensured resignations of its ministers accused of corruption and other crimes, I as the PCC chief would have asked the Chief Minister to follow the example set by the BJP. However, the BJP itself is not clean. The BJP leader who succeeded BC Khanduri on the post of CM had travelled to and back from the BJP’s central office at Ashoka Road, New Delhi in the four wheeler of a known liquor baron,” he added.
