Garhwal region additional commissioner and additional director urban development Harak Singh Rawat instructed the executive officers of local bodies to ensure that the garbage is disposed of scientifically under MSW Act in the concerned jurisdiction.
He also exhorted the local bodies to enhance their financial resources while addressing a meeting held at regional headquarters in Pauri on Friday.
He stressed that the local bodies should use CFl instead of high Watt bulbs to save electricity.
The EO of Rishikesh and Swarga Asharam Tok local body said they are facing the problem of land to set up the trenching ground for the disposal of garbage and waste products. Few present in the meeting raised the problem of hoardings too.
He said that efforts should be made to search a Government land for the proposed trenching ground. This would solve the problem of land transfer in a short time.
The contract should be given for hoarding and in case if there is a problem, sub-district magistrate and police CO should be brought on board.
During the meeting, he focused on the scientific disposal of garbage and waste products and distributed performa of the working system of the disposal of garbage under the MSW Act.
He instructed all the local bodies to ensure scientific disposal of garbage and to construct primary collection centre and scientific land fill.
The encroachment should be removed from the jurisdiction of local bodies, he added.
