Opening of Gola motor bridge and laying foundation stones of some other developmental projects were much publicised programmes, but empty chairs at the Chief Minister’s public rally site at Golapar, where among others, State Congress leadership was also present, were the centre of attraction here on Wednesday.
The public rally site borders between the Haldwani and lalkuan Assembly constituencies, therefore, it was the responsibility of the MlAs of the respective Assembly constituencies to ensure full occupancy of the rally site, said the people who had come to listen to the Chief Minister.
More so, it was believed that the Congress party supporters would join the rally later on. But the helicopter of the Chief Minister had taken off for another destination, but occupants did not arrive. Even Cabinet Minister and MlA from Haldwani Assembly constituency Indira Hridayesh had to take a note of it. She said that earlier people strongly raised their demand for early opening of the Gola motor bridge. But they did not show the same enthusiasm by participating in the rally organised to mark the opening of the bridge on Wednesday as they did show during their protest for early opening the bridge, she added.
Among other senior Congress leaders, State Cabinet Minister and MlA from lalkuan Harish Chandra Durgapal, State Cabinet Minister and State Congress president Yashpal Arya and State Cabinet Minister and MlA from Haldwani Indira Hridayesh were also present on this occasion.
