Unable to ‘escape’ from poll duties on health ground, some ‘incorrigible’ employees in Nainital district are also now applying ‘fake’ marriage cards to rescue themselves from the polling duties.

Meanwhile, taking a serious note of the growing trend, Nainital district administration has asked Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) to examine assembly segment wise whether theirs claims was correct or had some hidden agendas. Besides, the administration also set up medical board for health examination of those employees who were showing excuses to do poll duties citing health reasons.

District officials said that the medical boards have been set up at the BD Pandey district hospital, Nainital, and at the base hospital, Haldwani. A team of health experts will examine whether the health employees who are hesitating to do polling duties on health ground and seeking leave, are fit for the polling duties or not.

On the basis of the report, a decision will be taken to grant leave to such employees who are trying to avoid poll duties on health ground, said Akshyat Gupta, District Magistrate, Nainital. Gupta said those employees who want to avoid polling duties need not to approach District Magistrate or district election office. In case of ill health, they are supposed to be present before the medical board to examine their health, added Gupta.

However, due concession with regard to granting leave, will be given to the employees who are found suffering from serious health disorder. But strong action will be taken against those employees who are found submitting fake medical certificate, asserted the officials concerned of the Nainital district administration. More importantly, necessary action will also be taken against those doctors who issue such fake medical certificate, Gupta said, adding that respective AROs will see the ‘fake’ marriage cards on which basis some employees are trying to avoid poll duties.
