PNS

Election fever has started gripping the Rajkeeya Shikshak Sangh (RSS), the organisation of lecturers and lecturer Teachers (lTs) of Government schools of the State. The election of new working committee of the organisation would be conducted during the three day State convention scheduled from September 15 at Rudrapur in Udham Singh Nagar district.

In the State convention of RSS in which the State Chief Minister Harsih Rawat is expected to attend as chief guest, the issues facing present education system would be discussed however the cynosure of all eyes would be the elections on the coveted posts of President and Secretary. It is learnt that district President of Chamoli, K K Dimri, Divisional President of Garhwal division Ram Singh Chauhan, Sonu Mehta, l D Joshi and Divisional Patron of Garhwal division Mukesh Bahuguna are expected to throw their hats for the coveted post of President. Hectic parleys are going on among top leaders of the association to ensure that someone among them manages to win the elections. For the post of Secretary, names of Divisional patron of Kumaon Sohan Singh Majila and Navendu Mathpal are making rounds.

The nomination for the various posts of working committee would be on the first day of convention on September 15 and the voting if needed would be done on September 16. In the elections 2500 delegates chosen from teachers of inter colleges and high schools of the state would participate.

It is worth mentioning here that the two year term of present working committee of the RSS ended in the month of August 2014. Ever since then the election process was being delayed on one or other pretext but the main reason of this delay was internal differences between the President Karnel Singh and Secretary Sardar Singh Chauhan. Chauhan who retired in the month of March 2014 refused to step down from the post of secretary citing previous instances. However Karnel Singh removed him and appointed Renu Chauhan in his place but S S Chauhan questioned the authority of Singh to remove him. Meanwhile, the delay holding organizational elections took a new turn when the divisional unit of Garhwal unanimously passed a resolution of no confidence against state leadership  and demanded that the state committee should stop functioning as its term is over.  The Secondary education director R K Kunwar intervened at this juncture and asked the organisation to hold the elections in the month of September.
