The campaign for the students’ union election at the Garhwal Central University Pauri campus is reaching its peak as the process of withdrawal of nomination is over.
Out of the 18 candidates who had filed nomination for different posts of the union, Gaurav Sagar is the only one to withdraw nomination for the post of university representative.
Moreover, two members Babita and Akhilesh Tewari have been elected unopposed as the members of the executive committee. For the seven post of executive committee, just two candidates have filed nomination.
Now, 15 candidates being left in the contest, the figure is higher than the one of last year.
The candidates representing ABVP, NSUI and Aryan are now campaigning in full swing.
Three girl candidates remaining in the fray for the posts of vice- president,
secretary and joint secretary have added interests to the contest. This is because the number of girl students is higher than the boys.
The contest would remain confined among BJP’s student wing ABVP, the Congress-affiliated NSUI and the Aryan Group. However, because of a ban on the direct politicized contest, they are not in the fray officially as representatives of the three groups. However, they are leaving no one in doubt in course of campaigning which sides they belong to.
While triangular fight would be held for the posts of president, joint secretary and university representative the contest would be straight for the posts of secretary and vice- president.
Rahul Shah, Mayur Bhatt and Bharart Bhushan Negi are in the fray for the post of president while Himani Deshwal, Deepak Gusain and Mayank Bhandari are contesting for the post of joint secretary. Moreover, Mohit, Rishav and Subham Rawat are fighting for the post of university representative. Shina and Rohit Gusain are fighting for the post of vice- president while Monika Negi and Rajesh Bhandari for the post of secretary. Ankit Sundriyal and Bhashker Singh are contesting for the post of treasurer.
