PNS

Uttarakhand Governor Dr KK Paul has categorically said that the syllabi of the universities should be such that they matched global standards and ensured quality education. Students should be provided skills that would help them find employment. In a developing country like India, it was necessary to link education with employment by making education skill-based. He stressed the need for making the universities of Uttarakhand come up to a standard which will make them well-known at the national level. They should figure in the national ratings. He expressed these views while chairing a meeting of the Vice Chancellors of State universities at Raj Bhawan.

He said that universities had an important role to play in ensuring a bright future for the youth like the best educational institutions of the country and abroad, we should also, in our State, strive to create and maintain high standards of education. He urged the VCs to fix the teaching hours and regularise the academic session. He said that the output of faculty members should also be seen to and assessed.

He also directed that universities should hold convocations regularly and award degrees to the students in time.  He said matters of affiliations of colleges should also be resolved soon.  Capable people should be given place in the affiliation committee. He said more and more courses should be run by universities so that opportunities of self-employment also increased for the students.

The Governor also told the VCs that placement cells should be set up in the universities so that students could be placed in big organisations.
