The education department is conducting a block-wise survey of vacant posts of lecturers and lecturer Teachers (lT) for recruitment of unemployed teaching graduates as guest faculty. The decision to appoint guest faculties in the inter colleges and high schools was taken by the State Government recently. The Secondary education director RK Kunwar told The Pioneer that all the Block Education Officers (BEOs) have been asked to submit the list of vacant posts of the teachers in the schools of their respective blocks. The department is expected to recruit 5500 lTs and lecturers as Guest faculty soon. The director informed that block-wise selection of the candidates would be made by district committees. The selection committee would have District Magistrate (DM) and Chief Education Officer (CEO) as members.

Kunwar said that a remuneration of Rs125 per period would be paid to lT while the Guest lecturers would be given Rs150 per period provided the total monthly payment does not exceeds Rs15,000. He claimed that the recruitment would be done strictly on the basis of merit and the entire process would be totally transparent. Kunwar informed that the process of recruitment would be completed in the month of June. He said, “With the appointment of these teachers, the studies in the schools located in the remote and mountainous areas of the State would not be hindered in next academic session.”
