To monitor the work of the Doon Valley Waste Management (DVWM) company in the town, the Mukhya Nagar Adhikari at Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD), Ashok Kumar said that the corporation will link homes via GPRS service and install a GPRS system in each vehicle and dustbin of the company.

He asked the councillors to collect regular feedback from their wards regarding the works of the DVWM company.

He also instructed the councillors to submit a feedback report of the company regarding the number of days its vehicles are visiting the wards and the user charges taken by the company from each house in the wards here after a meeting held with the BJP councillors at MCD.

Meanwhile, BJP councillors at MCD, expressing concern over the poor work performance of the DVWM company and the worsening sanitation level of the city, submitted a memorandum to the MNA Ashok Kumar and asked him to divide the wards into two halves of 30 each for ensuring proper sanitation arrangement in the city. Councillors, maintained that the responsibility of at least 30 wards should be withdrawn from the company and should be handed over to the respective councillors of the wards. The MNA said that MCD was regularly observing the work of DVWM and it was noticed that the company has turned stagnant since May onwards and finally it completely stopped the door to door garbage collection work.

He also stated that the company is also taking extra user charges from around 40,000 houses and 30,000 commercial buildings in the city, which is adding around `50-55 lakh to their monthly income.

Further Kumar stated that after earning such a big sum of money the company has failed to repair its vehicles and pay its employees on time.

BJP councillors including Roshan Bala Thapa, Varsha Badoni, Ganesh Barthwal, Bhupendra Kathait, Neeru Bhatt, Vipin Chanchal and many others were present on the occasion.
