Doon schools setting example in learning

PNS

Dehradun-based schools are fast setting an example by embracing the principle which  students learn best when they are given a chance to take charge of their own learning.

Prestigious institutions like The  Doon School, Welham Boys Schools and Unison World School have partnered within a pioneering outdoor and adventure based learning company, for conducting ‘Whole School leadership’ development programme, which includes Graded life Skills Curriculum programmes for students from grade

4 to 12, Teacher Empowerment programme and School leader workshops to enrich the school culture.  To build a culture of self-discipline and leadership, these schools along with Inme are helping student leaders to become ambassadors of the school and training teachers build a better understanding of the way they work and how that impacts their students, colleagues and school.

Gunmeet Bindra, Principal, Welham Boys School, said Inme has helped the student leaders realise the importance of contribution, becoming true ambassadors of the school, taking responsibility for the well-being of their juniors, and taking charge of the school culture.

Dr Peter Mclaughlin, Headmaster, The Doon School, said since 2010, inme has helped over 200 teachers gain confidence on their ability to take independent actions as against simply executing orders. More than 200 students have been exposed to different leadership styles and necessary skills to lead and be led.

The students have learnt to work together, struggle collectively and support each other in order to achieve collective goals.
