Dehradun police have drafted traffic plan to ensure smooth flow of traffic in view of Passing-out Parade (POP) at IMA scheduled on June 11 and POP rehearsal. The traffic diversion would be enforced from Saturday to June 11.
SP Traffic DS Gunjyal said that traffic plan has been drafted in such a way to mitigate public inconvenience. Some routes have been changed. During IMA POP or POP rehearsal, no vehicle would be allowed towards IMA from any direction as the area has been declared as zero- zone.
The route of vehicles coming from Ballupur has been diverted at Raganwala barrier, IMA and all the vehicles would go towards Meetaberi and Premnagar. All the vehicles going towards Premnagar from the city would be diverted at IMA MT section gate and would go towards Ranganwala barrier and Ballupur Panditwari.
Heavy vehicles coming towards Vikasnagar for city would follow the routes as Harbertpur Chowk, Dhamawala Chowk and Shimla Bypass. Heavy vehicles going to Vikasnagar, Harbertpur and Delhi would be diverted at Shimla Bypass and would go Vikasnagar and Dhamawala. Vehicles going towards Vikasnagar from the city would follow the route as Ballupur to Balliwala, GMS Road, Kamla Palace, Shimla Bypass and Vikasnagar. Above traffic plan would be enforced between 5 am and 12 pm on June 4 and June 7. Above traffic plan would be implemented between 5 am and 12 pm; 6 pm and 9 pm on June 9. Above traffic plan would be implemented from 6 pm to 9 pm on June 10. On June 11, above drafted traffic plan would be enforced from 5 am to 12 pm. The people have been appealed to follow the drafted traffic plan to avoid inconvenience on above time and date, he added.
Moreover, the district police have strengthened the security. One Assistant ASP, one CO, four inspectors including one from lIU, six traffic sub-inspectors/head constables, five police station in-charges, 31 sub-inspectors, six head constables, 71 constables, 16 traffic police, 10 women constables have been deployed for IMA POP. In view of IMA POP, the police station officers of the area concerned and lIU officials have been directed to vigilant on anti-social elements apart from conducting verification drive in the area.
Dehradun SSP Dr Sadanand Date said that security has been beefed up with the deployment of additional forces at important places. Police station officers have been directed to launch verification drives in their areas apart from those at important crossings in their jurisdiction. Police patrolling has been intensified in Premnagar area in particular and other parts of the state capital in general, he added.
