A day after taking oath as the mayor of Dehradun, Sunil Uniyal Gama held a meeting with officials to review the status of various municipal works on Monday.
He directed officials to complete the DPR and tendering process within three months for sanitation works in the areas newly merged into the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun. Proposals for human resource, equipment and other requirements for this work should be presented immediately while door to door collection of garbage in the older 60 wards should be resumed on contract basis without delay.
The work of installing and maintaining LED lights in the city is not being done properly by the company. The mayor directed officials to call a meeting with company officials while also directing them to present proposals for installation of street lights in the new areas.
Officials informed him that previously, the MCD house tax target was Rs 12 crore, compared to which Rs 20 crore was collected. The target for current financial year is Rs 25 crore for which the bills are to be sent while talks are being held with banks to facilitate online house tax.
The mayor directed officials to ensure timely despatch of the bills and collection of the tax according to the target. In the areas brought under the purview of MCD, a survey of vacant government land should be conducted.
For this purpose, the administration should be requested to depute about a dozen Patwari/Lekhpal.
A list of Panchayat Bhawans in such areas should be provided so that ward offices/zonal offices can be opened in these.
Sites should be identified and proposals submitted for advertisement hoardings, bus shelters and police booths in such areas in order to increase the revenue of MCD.
Gama also directed the officials to present details of the works approved by the previous board and their current status. He also sought a report on contractors not starting work months after the order for the same was issued. A meeting should be held every month to review the status of construction works, he said.
Officials attending the meeting were directed to ensure that municipal staff behave properly and expedite work in case of people who come to the MCD for depositing house tax, birth-death certificates and other tasks. The municipal commissioner Vijay Kumar Jogdande and other officials were also present in the meeting.
