Doon ISBT continues to suffer from waterlogging

PNS

The Inter State Bus Terminal in Dehradun continues to suffer from waterlogging following rains. This problem has been causing inconvenience to commuters at the ISBT for years but the authorities have so far failed to resolve it so far.

It is pertinent to mention here that for years, the ISBT Dehradun has been experiencing water logging during the monsoon season and though authorities have discussed and planned measures to resolve this, nothing concrete has been done so far. Water logging and damaged condition of the road pose problems for all those arriving at the ISBT.

Shopkeepers here complain that the goods get spoiled whenever the water flows into the shops in absence of proper drainage.

When the buses move, dirty water splashed by the vehicles dirties the clothes of bystanders and shopkeepers. At times, water logging after rainfall makes it tough for people to walk without entering dirty water that is more than ankle deep.

One of the vendors Shankar said, “We pay Rs 800 per month as maintenance charge but the condition deteriorates during the rains due to absence of proper facilities.”

There have been instances in the past when more than shin deep water collected here following heavy rain entered the engine of a bus and stalled it. Commuters are also unhappy with the state of affairs at ISBT. One such traveler remarked, “The place is dirty and the toilets are in a bad condition with some lacking even doors.”
