The Dehradun Police has made elaborate traffic and security arrangements to ensure peaceful Dussehra celebrations in the city. With possibility of thousands of people from across Dehradun and from other parts of the State thronging Parade Ground to witness torching of effigies of mythological demon king Ravana, his brother Kumbhkarna and his son Meghnad on Thursday, the district police have drafted an elaborate traffic plan on Tuesday, said Dehradun SSP Dr Sadanand Date.
SP Traffic PK Rai said buses plying on Parade Ground-Cantt route vie Rajpur would operate from Oriental Chowk near Petrol Pump on Rajpur Road. They would not be allowed to move towards Kanak Chowk. Buses plying on Clement Town-Rajpur Road route would not be allowed to move towards landsdowne Chowk. They would ply instead along Darshanlal Chowk, Clock Tower and Clement Town.
Buses plying on Raipur- Maldevta route via Sahastradhara would operate from Chuna Bhatta, Raipur Road. The buses of this route would be allowed till Survey Chowk.Buses plying on Premnagar- Raipur route would follow the route Premnagar to Chakrata via Clock Tower, Rajpur Road-Sahastradhara Road and Sahastradhara crossing and then Raipur. The buses would follow the same route while returning.
Buses plying on Nalapani -Seemadwar route would follow the route as Nalapani to Sahastradhara Road, Rajpur Road to Clock Tower, Chakrata Road and Seemadwar. While returning, buses on this route would follow the same route.
Buses plying on Jolly Grant -Dehradun would follow the route as Jolly grant to Rispana- Aaraghar- Crossing Road- Manoj Clinique- Darshanlal Chowk and Prince Chowk.
Buses plying MDDA-Daat Kali temple route would follow the route as Daat Kali Temple to ISBT -Saharanpur Chowk- Prince Chowk- Tehsil Chowk- Darshanlal Chowk, Buddha Chowk- MKP -Dwarika store -MDDA. While returning, they would follow the same route.
Buses plying on Gularghati-Premnagar would follow the route as Gularghati -Rispana- Aaraghar- Prince Chowk- Saharapur Chowk- Ballwala Chowk-Premnagar. It would follow the same route on their return journey.
Vikram plying on route numbers 3, 5, 8 and 2 would not be allowed near Parade Ground. Barricading will be installed at Faltu line on Subhash Road, Darshanlal Chowk, Dungahouse, Kanak Chowk, Rojgar crossing, Convent, Oriental bank, landsdowne Chowk, Survey Chowk and Hotel Pacific. The parking arrangements for two- wheelers and four- wheelers have been made at Ranger ground, Mangla Devi Inter College, MDDA's old parking complex.
