In the wake of a history-sheeter of Muzaffarnagar district, Vicky Tyagi being shot dead during a hearing in the court of the additional district and sessions judge in Muzaffarnagar on Monday afternoon, the advocates in Dehradun have expressed concern over their security.
According to them, most of the hardcore criminals are from western Uttar Pradesh. They are being produced by the police in the courts here during hearing from time to time. Possibility of such crimes occurring here cannot be ruled out.
The police should deploy security forces in the court campus and people getting in the court should be frisked properly. As a large number of people reach the court daily it may not be possible for police to frisk all of them individually. But, at least, police should frisk the visitors randomly to create a sense of fear among the offenders, they added.
When this correspondent reached the court campus he found no policeman frisking the visitors who kept on swarming in there. A senior advocate lB Gurang said that the shoot-out incident in Muzaffarnagar, resulting in the murder of an under-trial right in the jail court premises during a hearing had made them insecure. The district administration should sit up following this incident and step up security with the adequate deployment of police forces in the court campus to ensure security for the judges and the advocates.
The court is a public place and a large number of people come here daily. It is difficult for police to identify such persons individually. Thus it is easy for the criminals to get into here unhindered. What the district administration can do is to have forces deployed at each of the entry gates and have the visitors properly frisked. If the administration cannot deploy police force at each of the entry gates the police forces should be deployed to conduct random checking of visitors in the court campus daily.
Other advocates also echoed the same, while stressing that the administration should look into their security with possibility of such crimes occurring here being high.
