Resentment is brewing among the doctors, pharmacists and other employees of state health service on handing over of Doon hospital and Doon women hospital to the DMC. They are now demanding that the state government should find a new place for building of associated hospital of medical college. These disgruntled elements have formed a “save district hospital coordination committee’ and are planning to launch an agitation on the issue.

The association of the government doctors the Provincial Medical Health Service (PMHS) has also come out in favor of a district hospital in Dehradun. The secretary of the PMHS, Dr Naresh Napalchiyal clarified that the association is not against medical college but demands that the state capital should have a district hospital. He said that the Doon hospital and women hospital had posts of about 100 doctors which now don’t exist.

The secretary of the PMHS said that the doctors in remote areas of the state work for years in hope of getting transferred to Dehradun now in absence of a district hospital in state capital they are even robbed of this dream.
